Suzanne Collins is too busy writing the final book in The Hunger Games, her
trilogy for teens, to do a book tour or even many interviews. But that hasn’t
prevented Catching Fire, the second in the series, from landing at No. 1 on USA
TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list. The series, set in a futurist dictatorship,
features teens forced to fight to the death on TV. It has been praised by two
other writers who have reached No. 1 on the list: Stephenie Meyer and Stephen
King. Collins, 47, says, “I’m wonderfully shocked and deeply grateful that the
book has connected with so many readers.” In an interview with USA TODAY, she
said she’s about two-thirds of the way through the final book, set to be
published next fall.
